Rico is an adoptable male Staffordshire Bull Terrier looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. He is senior and medium in size. Located At: BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions Description: My name is Rico Suave. I am a male, brown and white Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix. Age: The shelter staff think I am about 8 years old. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 27, 2026. I am in kennel DB17. Weight: 59 lbs Intake date: 8/27/2026 ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Rico Suave arrived at BARC as a stray with wounds in various stages of healing on his face and ears. He also arrived with paraphimosis, meaning his penis was unable to remain retracted inside the prepuce. The shelter veterinarian was able to lubricate it and return it to the prepuce, but on 8/28 it was documented that the penis was still extruded and he needs continued treatment. He was prescribed Carprofen 112.5 mg once daily for 14 days for pain and inflammation and needs veterinary treatment for the paraphimosis. Rico Suave is Heartworm HIGH POSITIVE. He has received: ' DA2PP ' Bordetella ' Rabies ' 1 year ' Deworming / Pyrantel ' Advantage Multi ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Rico Suave has shown a gentle, neutral demeanor with staff. He responds to baby talk with tail wags and has allowed staff to assist him with handling. He may be hesitant and slow-moving in the shelter, but no aggressive behavior is documented
