Kenobi is an adoptable male Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at Philadelphia Animal Care and Control in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is fully grown and large in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with only 2 days left, listed due to behavior. Adopting Kenobi, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Kenobi is an incredibly friendly and affectionate dog who loves being around his humans. He is very handler-oriented and has been described as an easygoing, well-mannered boy who is easy to leash and a pleasure to walk. During a recent outing, he happily came over for pets, sat when asked, and took treats gently without any mouthiness. He even had a relaxed, appropriate greeting with another dog through the fence, showing us that this handsome guy has a lovely softer side. Kenobi can be a very enthusiastic guy, and when he gets especially excited or overstimulated, he can become a little mouthy. Due to this, he will do best with an adult-only family who can help him learn appropriate ways to channel that enthusiasm while giving him plenty of exercise, enrichment, and mental stimulation. Kenobi is also very interested in other dogs and has shown playful behaviors like play bows and curious sniffing during some introductions. He can become intense or fixated during greetings, so his future family should be prepared to take introductions slowly and thoughtfully. He may do best as the only pet, or with adopters who are comfortable managing dog-to-dog introductions and giving him the structure he needs to succeed. Underneath all that enthusiasm is a sweet, affectionate dog who really enjoys his people. Kenobi has shown us that with a little time and the right approach, he can be relaxed, gentle, and incredibly easy to handle. He is smart, social, and eager to interact with the world around him, and we think he'll be a fantastic companion for someone who appreciates a dog with plenty of personality. Per volunteer 8/31/26: I took Kenobi outside for a quick potty break because he's trying to stay house trained. He's in ISO, was easy to leash, and very easy to walk. He had a well mannered greeting with Lay Lay through the fence - he was relaxed, and though she initially looked tense, her body loosened after several seconds In the yard, he came over for some pets, then, he sat when I asked, and took treats with no mouthiness. He's a very easy going boy. Per volunteer 8/30/26: I met this guy briefly in the isolation room. He immediately backed into me while taking pets with an incredibly loose and wiggly body. Someone else had been walking him and said he was very easy with handling and is a good boy. I went to put him in kennel and he pancaked slightly but followed me in when I walked in first. Kenobi is an incredibly friendly dog who is very eager to socialize and meet new people. He's the kind of pup who brings a lot of energy and excitement to every interaction. While Kenobi is very affectionate and tolerates handling well, he can sometimes get a little \"mouthy\" or nippy when he becomes overstimulated. This isn't out of aggression, but rather a sign of his high energy and playfulness. Because of this, he would be most successful in an adult-only home with adopters who can help him work on his manners and provide him with appropriate outlets for his enthusiasm. When meeting other dogs, Kenobi is very curious and interested, often showing off his best play bows. He can be a bit intense and fixated during introductions, so he would appreciate a home that can manage his greetings or help him feel comfortable as the only pet. Per staff 8/17/26: very bright and excited to socialize with everyone in the room. tolerated all handling but did become overstimulated and mouthy/nippy. was not able to actually bite anyone, did not seem aggressive but more so a playful/overstimulated behavior. Per staff 8/16/26 (Regarding meet with Sandy): Fixated, middle tail, pulls hard, sniffing, attempt to mount, play bows Per staff 8/15/26: in the kennel was laying down, heavy panting. He came to the front with loose body, neutral ears and tail, easy to leash. Peed immediately once outside. At fence meet with Bella, fixated, pacing back and forth, unable to be redirected with food, verbal cues or leash pressure. Tail down, overall tense body. She was avoidant so we did not proceed further. When returning to kennel, hopped it and tried to push back out slightly. We only went out for a dog meet, so I didn't do too much soliciting of attention, he remained aloof with me. leveling at blue ' Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted.
