About Rodger

Rodger is an adoptable male Hound looking for a home at Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control in West Palm Beach, Florida. He is a young adult and medium in size. He is listed on the shelter's euthanasia list, listed due to other, and that date has now passed. Shelters often move these dates, so Rodger may still be waiting. The shelter can confirm.

Intake Info: Rodger (A2343590) was brought in by a source who found him at a gas station. He has a microchip, but there was no successful contact with his previous owner. Medical: Rodger appears to be approximately 3 years old and is neutered. He is heartworm negative but is in poor body condition and weighs only 44 lbs. He has significant dermatitis with secondary demodex and skin infection. He has been placed on double feedings to help improve his body condition. Rodger is currently classified as HS-4. Staff Notes: Rodger is a very sweet and friendly boy. Volunteer Notes: Rodger appears to be housebroken and is a very sweet boy. He knows sit and paw and is a good leash walker. He has rough, dry skin with significant flaking; after his shampoo, the towel was covered in dry skin. His anal area also appears rough. Volunteers gently attempted to clean the area with water. Rodger tolerated having his face wiped with a towel. Request to Rescues: Rodger is in urgent need of rescue placement and prompt veterinary follow-up. He will need a thorough evaluation of his body condition and a structured weight-gain/feeding plan, along with continued treatment for demodex and his secondary skin infections. An antifungal may also need to be added to his treatment regimen depending on veterinary evaluation. His skin may take several months and will likely require ongoing treatment and frequent veterinary rechecks for healing. He is a sweet, friendly boy who deserves the opportunity to recover and thrive outside of the shelter environment.
