Fink is an adoptable male Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at Philadelphia Animal Care and Control in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is senior and large in size. Fink is a big, lovable boy who is all about snacks, attention, and spending time with his people! This sweet guy has a gentle side and absolutely loves getting pets. He's been known to lean right into his handler for affection and will happily ask for more when the pets stop. He takes treats gently, knows 'sit,' and is very food motivated'which should make him a fun partner for learning new things! Fink is a curious guy who enjoys getting out of his kennel and exploring the world around him. He has a medium energy level and is always happy to head out for a walk and see what's happening. He can be enthusiastic on leash and has some strength behind him, so he'll do best with someone who is comfortable with a big dog and is excited to help him continue polishing his leash skills. Fink has also had opportunities to meet other dogs. He can be quite enthusiastic when saying hello, so slow and thoughtful introductions will be important if he has a canine sibling. He's a fun-loving guy who would benefit from a family willing to get to know him and help him be his best self. Fink does have some medical needs that his future family will want to discuss with the adoption team, but he is ready to find someone who will give him the love, care, and attention he deserves. Took a treat gently. Leash Skills: Easy to leash and came right out of the kennel. Mildly to moderate pulls on leash with some zig zags. Sociability: Leaned into all handling with a loose body, soft eyes, ears to the side and mid tail. Takes treats gently knows sit. Can be a little jumpy however he is very food motivated. Play: n/a Dog Interaction: n/a Return to Kennel: Went right into kennel and removed leash with hand. Color Level: Exp Gold Playgroup 9/6/26: Steer test: 1/5 with water and 0/5 with can. Ears back with high stiff flagging tail at gate greetings. Stiff greetings and then attempted to hump. Was corrected then continued to try to mount. Removed from yard. Per staff 9/3/26: Easy to leash, came right to the front. Pulled Mildly Yes, I handled the dog. Will come to handler for some pats Walked right into kennel and unleashed without issue sweet big boy , curious in everything and everybody. Little pull on leash and low energy but will come to you for some attention Playgroup 9/3/26: Steer test 2/5 with water and 0/5 with can. Ears to eh side and high flagging tail at fence greeting. Forward greeting once in the yard. Overly interested in hind end of female dog. Attempted to mount. Per staff 9/2/26: picked up 2 stray dogs from back yard of location Medical Notes: Fink was diagnosed with otitis externa (ear infection), chronic flea allergy dermatitis, and two masses on his lower back that require further evaluation, with a mast cell tumor being a concern based on their appearance. He was treated for inflammation, itching, fleas, and infection with ear medication, NexGard, diphenhydramine, prednisone, and clindamycin. Fink is cleared to remain available for adoption with a medical waiver, though the two masses should ideally be surgically removed and biopsied in the near future, and he will likely require ongoing treatment for underlying allergies. ' Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted.
