Meet Jordan Sparks, a sweet senior gentleman who is ready to trade shelter life for a cozy place to call home! This laid-back guy has been winning hearts with his gentle nature, easygoing personality, and love of snacks. Jordan is an excellent walking companion who is easy to leash, walks beautifully on a loose leash, and prefers to take life at a leisurely pace. He's happy to mosey around, sniff the world, and enjoy the simple things in life. Volunteers have described him as an 'old gentle guy,' and it's easy to see why! Jordan is a people-loving fellow who enjoys attention and will happily wander over to say hello before heading off to investigate his surroundings. He's tolerant of gentle handling and has been known to lean in for pets and some good butt scratches. He also knows how to sit and is very motivated by treats, making snack time a favorite activity! Jordan can get a little enthusiastic when accepting treats and may bark to ask for more, so offering treats on an open palm is recommended. He's a senior with a little personality and knows exactly what he wants! Jordan has also had some positive interactions with other dogs. He has greeted canine friends appropriately and generally prefers to mingle and explore rather than engage in rowdy play. As with any dog, thoughtful introductions will help set him up for success. Jordan may also have some age-related mobility concerns, so a comfortable home where he can enjoy a slower pace and plenty of cozy rest would be wonderful. If you're looking for a mellow companion to join you for easygoing strolls, share a few snacks, and keep you company during quiet afternoons, Jordan Sparks might be your perfect match. This sweet senior deserves a soft place to land and someone who appreciates all the love and companionship an older dog has to offer. Come meet Jordan and give this gentle guy the retirement he deserves! Playgroup 10/5/26: Steer test not steerable with either water and can. Good greetings. mingled around the yard Per volunteer 10/3/26: Treated me with a neutral body and soft face when I approached. I very easily leashed him on the first try and he easily got out of kennel. Pulls minimally on leash and very easy to guide with leash pressure. When we got outside, he was very sweet and gentle with all of the New handlers, sniffing them out with a loose body. He is a little snatchy with treats, so should be sure to do it with an open palm. He met a couple dogs through the fence and have very nice meets. He took pets from me and was rubbing his head into my lap and then I would pet him and he would start barking. Seemed to be barking for attention. Very treat motivated and seemed to be barking at me for treats even when they weren't visible to him. Laid back boy for the remainder of our outing. I ended up bumping him up to gold just due to the notes on his profile to be careful around mouth and some snatchiness. Per staff 9/30/26: Jordan was easy to leash and walks very well on leash at a slow pace. The second we stepped into a yard, he looked at me ready to get snacks. He took treats pretty snatchy with wide eyes. He did better with open palm and enjoyed catching treats and chasing them too. When I sat down, he came over to me. I attempted pets but he just opened his mouth wide and started demand barking for more snacks. This man knows what he wants! I tossed a few more than picked his leash up. On leash he's not as demanding and walked around the yarding sniffing. He walked back to the kennels well and I gave him a treat as I took the leash off. Playgroup 9/19/26: Steer test 1-2/5 with water and 0/5 with can appropriate greetings. mingled around the yard. per volunteer 9/18 KENNEL PRESENTATION: Jordan Sparks was laying down, eyes closed, toward the front of his kennel. I tossed him a few treats and he got up and come to the front. He had soft eyes with ears to the side and a low wagging tail. He was easy to leash, staying in place. Once secured he exited the kennel easily and walked through the kennels next to me or just in front of me. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally on the leash. Walked with a loose leash the majority of our time walking together. Upon exiting the building, he sniffed the ground around the gate, staying there for a few moments. He needed slight leash pressure to continue. He then urinated in the grass before continuing. When we got to the parking lot, he stopped to smell the bbq. He briefly greeted another volunteer before again pulling lightly toward the food. I applied mild leash pressure to continue our walk. He saw a staff member and walked over to her and sniffed her hand. In the parking lot, I took some video of him walking and this interaction. SOCIABILITY : In the yard, Jordan Sparks was still interested in the food on the other side of the fence. He explored the yard and would come over to me and to those on the other side of the fence. He sat for a treat with a slow descent down. I asked him another time and he slowly went downward and then started jumping up. He took treats gently the majority of the time. One time he opened his mouth a little more and took the treat more quickly. He was tolerant of being touched all over his body with a neutral and relaxed body. He would come over to the handler both when prompted and when not prompted. He would come over, greet me, and then continue exploring. PLAY & TOYS: He ran after a tennis ball I threw and did not pick it up. He sniffed stuffed toys in the pen and did not show signs of play with them. DOG INTERACTION: He saw a dog, Zor, in a play yard on our return trip to the kennels. He walked over to the yard unprompted and greeted Zor through the fence. His tail was low to middle, ears to the side, and head lower to the smaller Zor. He walked along the fence with Zor. He walked around a bin and then back to the fence to continue greeting and walking with Zor. See video. RETURNING TO KENNEL: He was very easy to handle and returned to his kennel when opened. I put a PB cone in for him and reached in to move the leash stopper further away from his head. He continued eating his treat and I removed the leash easily. COLOR LEVEL: Green Per staff 9/18/26: Caution around mouth, made small attempt to bite when attempted to look inside mouth. Did not follow through and was easily avoided with proper restraint. Per staff 9/14/26: ACA and APO who took Jordan in. They noted he was very tolerant of them lifting him out of the car. He is very clearly a senior, and is also neutered.
