He has shown a friendly, social side with other dogs, including being tolerant of a dog who was very forward in her play and greeting two dogs politely while passing them in the shelter. He has also been able to settle in and nap comfortably in a crate. He has sat near staff seeking attention and touch, with some low tail wags. Blue Sky has shown signs of stress in the shelter environment and can be uncomfortable with people approaching his space. While he has also had positive interactions with staff and other dogs, he will benefit from a placement that can help him decompress and adjust at his own pace. Due to his behavioral concerns, Blue Sky is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner. Was sitting near me seeking touch in my office, with some low tail wags along with 4-5 stress yawns and panting. Per staff 10/5: Also on the way out to meet Roberto he met two other dogs in passing. Friendly, social and tolerant. He's a dogs dog! Per staff 10/3: I was in and out of my office all evening, for the most part, he ignored me and just laid in the crate napping on and off. There was a point where I'm not sure what triggered it. It could've been that I was walking by really quickly or because I had something in my hand. He went from a laying position up to a standing, his tail was slightly lower than middle, very stiff body, head lower, hard eyes, loud growling at me. I stopped moving with my body, turned to the side and tried to speak to him in a high-pitched tone of voice, he remained the same so I walked away. I walked in and out of the office numerous times after that, and that was the only time that type of reaction was noted. When going to leash him to place him back in kennel, he was laying at the back with his head up and low growling with whale eye and ears pasted back. Used the leash to lasso, and it only went partially over his head so used a hook to shimmy it around his neck, he continuously low growled the whole time. Once leashed he came out, walked back to kennel, uneventfully. Low tail, ears back, tense body. Per staff 10/3: Brought into the office for vaccines and set up in a crate, took a HARD nap! For vaccines, did in crate with handler holding head still with a leash while I came from behind. Deep loud growl for second vaccine, no reaction but a slow head whip for the first. Per staff 10/3: Meeting Shazza: he was adorable, friendly and very tolerant of her very pushy play advances. Per staff 10/1: Person who surrendered stated his ex girlfriend had the dog for 5 years, said Blue is a good dog who is great with children and lived with children. He said that his ex just left the dog on his porch and doesn't want it anymore. Placed on eval due to dog doing a little lunge at me twice when I came within a foot of him. Per owner surrender notes 10/1: Good dog, loves kids, protect.'Reaction to strangers, cats, and dogs depends. Has bitten/attempted to bite raccoon in yard. Good with children.
