Bridget
Pit Bull Terrier (mix breed)
Urgent: 4 Days Left
Scheduled: November 4, 2026
Reason: Lack of Space
Bridget is an adoptable female Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at Philadelphia Animal Care and Control in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is fully grown and medium in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with only 4 days left, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Bridget, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.
Bridget ACCT-A-263438 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Bridget must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, FOSTER, or ADOPTER by WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 4TH at 10AM. Should Bridget's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Bridget is a sweet, playful girl who has been making friends at ACCT Philly since arriving as a stray on September 30th. She loves getting outside to explore, carrying around her favorite stuffed toys, and soaking up attention from her people. She is affectionate and enjoys cuddling, often making her way right into your lap for pets. Bridget knows sit, takes treats nicely, and has shown herself to be easy to leash and handle. She has a fun, bouncy side and can bring plenty of energy to playtime, but she also enjoys slowing down for some extra cuddles. Bridget has participated in several playgroups, where she has shown interest in mingling with other dogs as well as spending time exploring and doing her own thing. She would love a home where she can enjoy her favorite toys, get plenty of affection, and continue being her adorable, playful self. Due to her length of stay, Bridget is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner, foster, or adopter. Per volunteer 10/28: Bridget is always so excited to get out of her ISO kennel. First thing she does in the yard is look for a stuffed toy. She loves to carry the stuffed toy while she's running in the yard. Then, she will come over with it, crawl in your lap to get pets. We played a quick game of tug with one of her toys tonight. She's an adorable little girl, but she does have some high energy. Per staff 10/24: Bridget was happy to get out for some time in the play yard last night. She will come in for cuddles, knows sit even when she is excited by the dog next door and took treats nicely. Wiggly with a high wagging tail plus the cutest spots on her face and ears! Per staff 10/20: Was in a scuffle with Sasha. ACA was bringing Sasha back in from a walk, Sasha then busted out of the kennel and the door from ISO 1 was open. When Sasha spotted Bridget who was coming out of the other room for a walk with the other ACA she ran right up to Bridget. Bridget then growled and the ACA's were able to separate with leashes. Per staff 10/7: I accompanied a volunteer while they took her out and she was super sweet and easy to handle. She was easy to leash, walked in pace with her handler, allowed all over petting, and enjoyed walking and sniffing. She had good fence meets with other dogs and was easy to return to kennel. Per staff 10/6 Kennel Presentation: At the front of the kennel with soft eyes, ears to the side and mid tail loosely wagging. Leash Skills: Easy to leash and came right out of kennel. Minimally pulled on the leash. Nose to the ground. Sociability: Leaned into all handling with soft eyes, ears to the side and mid tail wagging. Took the first treat a little snatchy. When I offered it again she was more gentle. Very food motivated. Dog Interaction: Buddy walk with staff. Return to Kennel: Went right into kennel and removed leash with hand. Color Level: Gold Per staff 10/6, playgroup: Steer Test 4/5 with water and 1/5 with can. Sniffing around the yard, did some mingling. Per staff 10/5, playgroup: Steer test 5/5 with water. Per staff 9/30: Dog initially bared teeth and low growled before I entered the front yard. Upon entry she got up and bluff charged at me, stopped and hunched in the corner after I didn't back down. Walked calmly on control pole, body language loosened after getting in truck. Ate food on truck.'At shelter, leashed with no issue, soft loose body language, low tail wags, allowed pets, ate treats right from my hand.
