About Julia

Julia is an adoptable female Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at Philadelphia Animal Care and Control in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is fully grown and medium in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with just one day left, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Julia, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

Julia ACCT-A-263804 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Julia must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST at 10AM. Should Julia's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Julia is a sweet, playful girl who was found as a stray by the police. She has a medium-to-high energy level and loves getting outside to explore, run around, and soak up attention from her people. Julia is affectionate and enjoys soliciting pets, and she's always happy to work for a tasty treat! She has shown herself to be a good walker at times, though she can pull on leash and may get excited enough to jump up on her handler. She has also been known to grab the leash or lightly mouth hands when overstimulated, but staff have found that keeping her moving, redirecting her attention, and using treats can help her settle and refocus. Julia has participated in playgroups and has shown that she can greet other dogs appropriately, enjoy running around with them, and take breaks during play. However, she can become pushy or overly mouthy during interactions, so continued supervision and thoughtful dog introductions will be important to help her have positive experiences. Julia would do best with a family prepared to provide consistent guidance, outlets for her energy, and positive reinforcement as she continues learning. She has been noted as a potential fit for a home with children ages 13 and older. With her affectionate personality, playful spirit, and love of treats, Julia has so much potential to make a wonderful companion. She's looking for a home that will embrace her enthusiasm, help her build good manners, and give her plenty of opportunities to explore, play, and enjoy life!
