Tinga
Pit Bull Terrier (mix breed)
Urgent: 3 Days Left
Scheduled: November 3, 2026
Reason: Lack of Space
Tinga is an adoptable female Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at Philadelphia Animal Care and Control in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is fully grown and medium in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with only 3 days left, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Tinga, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.
Tinga ACCT-A-264221 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Tinga must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, or ADOPTER by Tuesday, November 3rd 2026 at 10AM. Should Tinga's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Meet Tinga, a sweet, energetic young girl with a whole lot of love and wiggles to share! This happy pup greets you with a big smile, a constantly wagging tail, and plenty of enthusiasm. Tinga loves spending time outside, where she can run zoomies, sniff around, explore, and come over for all the pets she can get. She's very social with people, happily solicits attention, and allows handling. She's also food-motivated, so tasty treats are a great way to win her over and help her learn! Tinga has that classic puppy energy and is always ready for her next adventure. She enjoys running around and has shown an interest in agility, so she'd love a home where she can stay active and have plenty of opportunities for exercise and enrichment. She's still working on her leash manners and can pull quite hard when excited, so a harness is recommended for walks. She can also get jumpy when greeting people and may need some encouragement to head back inside after playtime, but treats can help make the transition easier. Tinga has participated in dog playgroups and has shown some friendly greetings and mingling, though she can become pushy with other dogs and doesn't always respond to their corrections. Slow, thoughtful introductions and continued guidance will be important when meeting potential canine companions. If you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate adventure buddy who will keep you smiling with her happy wiggles and zoomies, Tinga may be your girl! This sweetheart is the definition of a \"wiggle butt.\" When you walk up to her kennel, you're greeted with a soft, open-mouth smile and a tail that just won't stop wagging. Tinga is a social girl who absolutely loves her time in the yard. She's a professional at \"zoomies\" and will happily come over to ask for pets, jumping up with a loose, happy body to say hello. She's still learning her leash manners'she's just so excited to get where she's going!'so she does best on a harness to keep her comfortable while she explores. While she might be a little hesitant to head back inside after her adventures, she's easily swayed by some tasty treats (she's a big fan of hot dogs!). Tinga is an affectionate, high-energy companion who is ready to find a forever home where she can run, play, and soak up all the love she deserves.\" Per volunteer 10/18: Kennel Presentation: Very loose and wiggly in her kennel when I approached with a fast mid level wagging tail and soft open mouth with light panting Leash Skills: Tried to push out when I opened the door. I held the door closed with my leg and she backed up slightly, allowing me to leash her fairly easily. Moderate to hard pulling to get outside - I switched her to a harness once we got outside because she was pulling hard enough to make herself cough. Sociability: Very high energy and social in the yard, getting zoomies all over the yard. She approached me to solicit attention repeatedly, jumping up for pets with a loose, wiggly body and fast tail wags. She ran to the fence to look at people talking in the parking lot with ears forward and weight shifted forward, then disengaged and continued running in the yard. She peed and pooped several times in our few minutes outside. Play: Chased a toy then continued running/sniffing around without it. Dog Interaction: N/A Return to Kennel: Hesitant to return. She pulled to sniff dogs in the other kennels nearby and resisted entering her kennel. I clipped her and tossed a handful of hot dogs into her kennel, which she followed. Color Level: Exp gold Playgroup 10/9: Steer test: 3/5 with water rand 2/5 with can. Ears back, mingling around. Tense greetings able to move away. Pacing and whining, panting and exit searching after Billie left the yard. Playgroup 10/8: Tenser greetings in the yard then started running and did some stiff moves. Ran around occasionally with the other dogs then went off on her own sniffing around and mingling. Per staff 10/6: dog was submissive but friendly, allowed finder to pick up, showed no aggression or resistance ' Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted.
